Portable sawmills

I thought David would appreciate these:


It doesn't look like the Farmall C is powering the band, but Grampa and team were captured on film in March of 1954.

Move up 41 years and a crew using a Woodmizer bandsaw while my dad inspects the logs:



I must be getting nostalgic in my old age.

  1. Dad had a pretty red buzz saw rig that mounted on the front of his WD. He and Bea's father would split logs with a mix of potash and sugar so they could buzz up firewood out of it. I never have tried to duplicate that....the law would probably call it blasting without a license and take away the farm. Grandpa had an early one man McCullough chainsaw, so they didn't have to pull on a crosscut to block up a tree for the buzz saw.
